Wigan are set to have to pay Chelsea a whopping £3.6million to sign Fernando Torres from Chelsea this summer.
The former Barcelona star, who made just three Premier League appearances last season, has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have been linked to several strikers this summer and have been keen on signing either Alexis Sanchez or Fernando Torres.
Chelsea’s loan agreement with Wigan expires in 2021 and will run from January 1, 2021 to the end of 2020.
In February, Torres revealed he had been told he would leave Chelsea if the club failed to qualify for the Champions League this season.
The 24-year-old is likely to be allowed to leave the Blues after the transfer window closes in January, and the club’s chief executive, Mike Ashley, has admitted that he could be tempted to sell Torres in the summer.
However, Ashley has been adamant that Torres’ current contract will not be extended at the end, and it is understood Chelsea are likely to wait until the summer for a decision.
